Statement on Article Processing Charges (APC) and ANSF Special Grants
Open Access Policy The Australian Journal of Natural Sciences (AJNS) is a fully open-access journal. All published research is made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, ensuring maximum global reach and impact.
Article Processing Charges (APC) – Tiered Pricing To sustain high-quality editorial services, rigorous double-blind peer review, professional typesetting, global indexing, and long-term archiving, AJNS applies the following tiered APC structure:
- Research Article and Review Article: AUD 2,800
- Case Study, Technical Report, and Short Communication: AUD 2,000
- Editorial / Opinion: No charge (typically by invitation)
The APC is invoiced only after formal acceptance of the manuscript. No submission fees or other hidden charges are applied.
ANSF Outstanding Talent Publication Grant The Australia Natural Science Foundation (ANSF) supports exceptional research and distinguished talent through its prestigious Outstanding Talent Publication Grant programme, offering full or partial APC waivers.
Eligibility Authors whose manuscripts:
- Are rated “Excellent” in peer review, or
- Demonstrate significant scientific innovation, industrial application potential, or societal impact
are eligible to apply for this grant.

Application and Evaluation
- Authors should submit the “ANSF Publication Grant Application Form” (available on the journal website) during initial submission or at the revision stage.
- Applications are rigorously evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the Editorial Board to ensure the highest standards of excellence and fairness.
Benefits for Successful Applicants
- Full waiver (100% APC covered by ANSF) for truly outstanding submissions.
- Partial waiver (typically 50–75% reduction) for high-quality work meeting strong criteria.
- Official Certificate: All grant recipients will receive a formal ANSF Publication Excellence Grant Certificate (bearing the official ANSF seal), recognising the outstanding quality and impact of their work. This certificate may be used for professional, institutional, or funding reports.
We warmly invite researchers to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase high-impact work to the international community without financial barriers. Many authors publish in AJNS at significantly reduced or no cost through this competitive programme, while also receiving formal recognition of their excellence.
