Journal Overview

The Australian Journal of Natural Sciences (AJNS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal publishing original research, reviews, and communications in selected areas of the natural and applied sciences. AJNS is committed to methodological rigour, scientific integrity, and the dissemination of work that advances both fundamental knowledge and real-world understanding. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers and scholars worldwide, and is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and international academic exchange.

Aims & Scope

AJNS provides a rigorous and accessible platform for high-quality research across the natural and applied sciences. The journal publishes Research Articles, Review Articles, Short Communications, Case Studies, Technical Reports, and Editorial/Opinion pieces.

Priority research areas include:

  • Life Sciences and Biomedical Research — biology, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, and translational biomedical sciences
  • Environmental Science and Sustainability — ecology, climate science, conservation, environmental monitoring, and sustainability research
  • Materials Science and Applied Technologies — novel materials, nanotechnology, energy materials, and science-driven technological applications
  • Earth and Planetary Sciences — geology, geochemistry, atmospheric science, and planetary research
  • Physics, Chemistry, and Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences — experimental and theoretical work bridging traditional disciplinary boundaries

Publication Ethics

AJNS upholds the highest standards of publication ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit, originality, and relevance. All parties — editors, reviewers, and authors — are required to declare conflicts of interest. Allegations of misconduct are investigated following established COPE procedures, and corrections or retractions are issued as necessary.   • Publication Frequency: Continuous publication, with issues compiled quarterly
  • Article Processing Charges: A tiered APC structure applies to accepted manuscripts. Charges range from AUD 1,000 to AUD 1,200 depending on article type. Full details and waiver information are available on the APC page.
  • Open Access: All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.
  • Indexing: AJNS is currently working toward inclusion in recognised international indexing and abstracting services.
